“ Just wanted to give a shout out for a positive experience. On a busy morning I stopped in for donuts, specifically pink frosted donuts to go with my Homer Simpson costume. They were out! The nice lady working quickly stated she could go and frost some, even obliging my request for rainbow sprinkles. Great service. Yummy donuts. Yes, mmm, donuts. Also, my wife loves the apple fritters here! ”
“ Food: plenty of delicious selections made fresh every morning. In addition to many donuts I've enjoyed here, there muffins and croissants are also great. Good sized large donuts in a classic pink box. Atmosphere: I love stopping by for a dozen pickup on my way to church, but there's plenty of clean spacious seating available for lingering too. There's often what look like friendly regulars enjoying breakfast and coffee, some who even look up and smile at me when I enter the building. An added bonus are neat historical photos from the founder Rudy, decades old, on the wall. This is a classic historic Castro Valley institution. Service: I really appreciate the kind, friendly, down to earth service here too. It's been a family-run business for decades, and you can tell the employees care about what they do and know many of their customers personally. Tips: just as affordable as other donut shops I visited, but understandably cheaper than the fancy trendy premium donut shops that have popped up around recently. ”
“ Rudy's Donut House is the only place we traditionally go for the best donuts anytime we are in the Bay Area. The donuts are always a generous size of this delicious sweet treat. This time we bought the Boston chocolate custard filled bar, lemon curd filled bar, Long John whipped cream filled eclair and the cinnamon roll. We also purchased the best claw. This is a family owned establishment. Every time we stop by we are welcomed and greeted like family and that is how they make people feel. You will always see locals gathered together for a cup of coffee and donuts. What could be bettet? On this National Donut Day 2024 Rudy's Donut House was a must stop for us. ”

So far, Rudy's is the best alternative I've found in the area. 4 stars for the Donuts: they are consistently good and have a good selection. 5 stars for the service: the ladies here are the absolute sweetest. 3 stars for the price: more expensive than the typical old school donut shop. 2 stars for the patrons: some regular old timers keep staring at me when I go there, from the moment I pull up in the parking lot to the moment I pull out. They stare right at me through the windows, turning their heads to look in my direction. It makes me uncomfortable enough to think twice about coming here. ”
